RDM (Novel) Chapter 452

C 452

Pyo Wol and his party returned to the lodging site of the Zigong merchant group.

Even after reuniting with their subordinates, the expressions of Lee Shin-pil and Goo Sang-hak did not easily brighten.

'A master and disciple.'

They were surprised once that the men who had slaughtered so many of them were a master and disciple, and twice that their hands were so brutal.

.

'Is it fortunate that he is with us?'

Lee Shin-pil glanced over at Pyo Wol.

Pyo Wol was sitting by a campfire with Eun-yo and Do Yeonsan. Just by looking at his face, it was impossible to tell what he was thinking. However, one thing was certain.

It was reassuring that Pyo Wol was with them.

No matter how terrifying the mysterious master and disciple were, Lee Shin-pil thought that Pyo Wol could handle them.

Lee Shin-pil shook off the heavy thoughts weighing on his shoulders and called out to his subordinates.

"Is the meal not ready yet?"

"It's ready."

Those in charge of the meal responded loudly.

They carried a large pot and distributed porridge to the members of the group. Pyo Wol, Eun-yo , and Do Yeonsan also received a bowl each.

The porridge, made from soaked dried meat and grains, was merely seasoned with salt.

Nevertheless, the three of them didn't complain and finished their bowls quickly.

Do Yeonsan looked at Pyo Wol as he put down his bowl.

"Brother!"

"What?"

"The person who did that to the bandits must be strong, right?"

"They are strong."

"I've never seen such wounds before."

Do Yeonsan's voice trembled slightly.

He felt an inexplicable chill from the wounds of the bandits.

After acquiring a certain degree of the Ghost King's power, Do Yeonsan had lost the feeling of fear. However, even he was quite shocked upon seeing the bandits' wounds.

He instinctively felt that it was an opponent he couldn't handle.

His strength came from acquiring part of the Ghost King's power, not from his own efforts.

He could easily suppress half-strong warriors, but compared to real warriors who became strong on their own like Pyo Wol, he was bound to be inferior.

The person who killed the bandits possessed that kind of strength. That's why Do Yeonsan couldn't help but instinctively feel fear.

Do Yeonsan muttered as he threw dry branches into the campfire, "I think I should learn martial arts systematically."

"That's a good idea."

Pyo Wol agreed with Do Yeonsan's opinion.

If Do Yeonsan learned martial arts systematically, he would become much stronger. There was still plenty of room for him to grow.

Eun-yo  asked, "You know, don't you, brother?"

"What?"

"About the person who killed the bandits. It seemed like you knew something."

"I have a guess, but I'm not sure yet."

"I see."

Eun-yo  nodded her head.

She didn't pry any further.

She thought Pyo Wol would naturally tell them when the time was right.

Pyo Wol stared intently at the blazing campfire.

Overwhelmed by his aura, Do Yeonsan and Eun-yo  couldn't speak.

Suddenly, Pyo Wol's expression turned cold.

Eun-yo was the first to notice his change.

"What's wrong, brother?"

Instead of answering, Pyo Wol looked beyond the campfire into the darkness.

Eun-yo  and Do Yeonsan also followed Pyo Wol's gaze.

Do Yeonsan furrowed his brow.

He couldn't feel anything, even though he heightened his senses.

The same was true for Eun-yo .

Eun-yo had highly developed senses other than her sight. However, she couldn't detect any signs either.

'What?'

'Why?'

Their questions deepened.

"Ah! It's a ghost!"

"A ghost has appeared."

The people near the place where Pyo Wol's eyes were directed suddenly screamed in fright.

"What?"

"A ghost?"

Confusion crossed their faces.

They still couldn't sense anything, yet the people from the Zigong merchant group were making a fuss.

That's when it happened.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, someone appeared as if it was a lie.

A mysterious old man emerged, cutting through the darkness like a ghost. His long, flowing silver hair shimmered.

Because of the silver hair, the first people to see the old man thought he was a ghost.

The old man quickly glanced around the sleeping area.

"Ugh!"

"Hmm!"

Those who met his gaze bowed their heads one after another.

The moment they looked into the old man's eyes, they felt a burning pain.

His intense gaze was like a torch.

No one dared to meet the old man's eyes.

Suddenly, the old man's gaze met Do Yeonsan's.

"Ugh!"

Do Yeonsan's face contorted.

Just making eye contact gave him a feeling as if his heart had dropped.

The old man spoke.

"You're an interesting one. Your body is clearly human, but I can sense the remnants of another soul."

His eyes sparkled as if he had discovered an interesting toy.

Do Yeonsan clenched his teeth, trying to withstand the old man's gaze. However, the more he tried, the greater the pressure he felt.

That's when Eun-yo  stepped in.

She blocked Do Yeonsan and said, "Stop it."

"Ha! Now it's a blind girl? What an interesting combination."

The old man smiled.

He was simply laughing, but everyone who saw his smile felt a chill as if they had been covered in ice water.

'Who on earth is that old man?'

'An expert, an incredibly skilled expert.'

No one dared to speak in the presence of the old man's overwhelming aura.

The old man gestured to Do Yeonsan and Eun-yo.

"Both of you, come here."

For a moment, Do Yeonsan and Eun-yo  felt an intense temptation to obey the old man's words.

The power in the old man's voice made them feel compelled to comply.

'What?'

'What on earth?'

Their bodies tried to move on their own, regardless of their will.

The two clenched their teeth and tried to resist, but the temptation grew stronger.

Do Yeonsan bit his lip until it bled.

The pain brought him back to his senses, and he was able to break free from the old man's temptation. He quickly grabbed Eun-yo 's hand, and she too barely escaped the temptation.

"Ha!"

The old man slightly admired the sight.

Just as he was about to speak to the two again,

Suddenly, someone grabbed a burning branch from the bonfire and threw it at the old man's face.

"Ugh!"

The intense light forced the old man to close his eyes and swat the branch away with his hand.

Thanks to the old man's distraction, Do Yeonsan and Eun-yo  regained their freedom completely.

The old man yelled angrily.

"Who the hell are you?"

"Enough. You're an uninvited guest, so stop stirring up trouble."

"What?"

The old man found the source of the voice.

At that moment, Pyo Wol stood up.

A bewildered look appeared in the old man's eyes.

It wasn't the fact that Pyo Wol had thrown the burning branch at him that surprised him, but the fact that he had not noticed Pyo Wol before he stood up.

As soon as the old man entered the sleeping area, he heightened his senses and detected everyone inside.

His senses were truly keen, and with just one instance of increasing his perception, he could immediately identify any potential threats.

Indeed, when he heightened his senses earlier, there was no one who posed a threat to him.

There were many people, but they were all harmless.

The only ones who could pose a slight threat were Do Yeonsan and Eun-yo in front of him.

That's why he deliberately treated them roughly, but unexpectedly, there was another threatening presence beside them.

'An expert!'

The old man's eyes darkened as he asked, "Who are you?"

"Who are you, old man?"

"Do you know who I am and dare to speak to me like that?"

"How can I know if you don't tell me?"

The old man was momentarily at a loss for words.

Having wandered Kangho for a long time, it was the first time someone like Pyo Wol had talked to him in such a manner.

If it had been his usual temperament, he would have beaten Pyo Wol to a pulp in an instant.

He had the skills to make any martial artist submit within a single day.

The martial arts techniques he had mastered were so extraordinary that no enemy had ever been allowed to survive. However, he hesitated to use them.

Pyo Wol's unusual atmosphere made him uneasy.

The old man and Pyo Wol stared at each other, with the bonfire in between.

The innocent martial artists of the merchant group swallowed their dry saliva in the face of their confrontation.

Instinctively, they felt that if the two clashed, something terrible would happen.

The moment felt oppressively heavy, as if they couldn't even take a breath.

'Oh, this is bad.'

'If those two fight, disaster will strike.'

That's when it happened.

Lee Shin-pil, the leader of the Zigong merchant group, pushed through the crowd and stepped forward.

He respectfully saluted and said, "I am Lee Shin-pil, the leader of this merchant group. The young man here is Pyo Wol, the absolute expert in Kangho."

"Pyo Wol? So you're the one called the Reaper."

Although he spoke like that, the old man looked genuinely impressed. It was because Pyo Wol's energy was not inferior to his own.

He continued speaking.

"My name is Baek Ho-gyeong."

"Baek Ho-gyeong?"

"I don't particularly like it, but some people call me the Third Constellation."

"Third Seat? One of the Eight Constellations."

"That's right."

Third Seat Baek Ho-gyeong.

That was the old man's identity.

Baek Ho-gyeong's nickname was Nine Abyss Ghost Demon. However, there wasn't a single person who would mention this nickname in front of Baek Ho-gyeong.

That's because Baek Ho-gyeong despised it terribly. Anyone who mentioned the nickname was killed without exception.

Only then did Pyo Wol understand the extent of Baek Ho-gyeong's strength.

The mere words of being one of the Eight Constellations were enough to explain everything.

The most mysterious expert following the Ghost King was Baek Ho-gyeong himself.

He rarely showed himself in Kangho, but once he did, he turned the place into a bloodbath.

The eerie nickname of Nine Abyss Ghost Demon was also gained for that reason.

Even after learning Baek Ho-gyeong's identity, Pyo Wol remained unfazed.

He had met the Ghost King and the master of Life and Death, who were higher in the hierarchy among the Eight Constellations. Baek Ho-gyeong's martial prowess was impressive, but it was not superior to theirs.

There was no reason for Pyo Wol to feel intimidated.

Baek Ho-gyeong said, "So that's why you're so headstrong. Why are you here?"

"If you're going to be so noisy, just go on your way. Don't disturb others who are resting."

"How dare you!"

Anger surfaced on Baek Ho-gyeong's face. However, he didn't act as rashly as before.

The nickname "Reaper" had that effect.

At the moment, Pyo Wol was the hottest name in Kangho.

The evaluations of martial artists were cold and objective.

It may seem like they casually came up with nicknames, but they contained a lot of information.

It wasn't for nothing that the martial artists had given Pyo Wol the nickname of "Reaper"

It was a nickname given to the one who was the best at killing people in the world.

No matter how much of an absolute expert Baek Ho-gyeong had been dominating Kangho for a long time, he was still hesitant to clash with Pyo Wol.

Moreover, it was night.

Night was Pyo Wol's time.

Fighting in the darkness was extremely disadvantageous for Baek Ho-gyeong.

Suppressing his pride, Baek Ho-gyeong said,

"Let me impose on you for just today."

It was not a statement addressed to Pyo Wol.

It was a statement addressed to Lee Shin-pil, the owner of the merchant group.

"It is an honor."

Lee Shin-pil couldn't dare refuse his request.

Both Pyo Wol and Baek Ho-gyeong were frightening.

Thus, he had no choice but to accept.
