C923
"Strong??"
The Black King Sigel opened his mouth, dripping black liquid, in disbelief.
"How can you be strong?"
He spun his sword and spear, warning them not to be mistaken. The true demonic energy flowing from the Devildom began to envelop the Black King Sigel's weapons, pushing back the flames of the Divine Sword and the frost of the Demonic Sword.
“Against this demonic energy, human strength is nothing more than the struggle of an ant.”
The Black King Sigel, enveloped in demonic energy, began to pressure Raon. His fingertips trembled at the intense aura emanating from the creature.
"You lack self-awareness."
Raon scoffed and gripped the Divine Sword and the Demonic Sword tighter. He cut through the demonic energy that burned above the flames and frost, provoking wrath.
"How can a human..."
The Black King Sigel's eyes widened as he watched the demonic energy split effortlessly.
"When the demonic energy of the Devildom covers the sky and the earth, how can a human become stronger?"
He shouted that the situation made no sense as he advanced with the spear and the greatsword in his hands.
-I'm a special case, see?
Raon broke the tip of the spear, which fell like a hawk's claw, and deflected the greatsword that was heading towards his chest. The spear that Sigel had been holding rose towards the sky, while the greatsword struck the ground, causing the corpses of the demonic beasts on the ground to explode.
'It's open.'
Raon didn't miss the opportunity when Sigel was defenseless, launching himself into his embrace and stabbing his chest with the Divine Sword.
'What is this?'
Although there was resistance, it didn't feel like he was piercing human flesh and bone. It was a hollow feeling, as if he were piercing through a thick fabric.
"You are... hmm!"
As Raon frowned and looked at Sigel, something fell and hit him on the shoulder. Turning his gaze, he saw a black arrow embedded in his left shoulder. Raon took a step back as black axes and whips emerged from behind Sigel's back and fell towards his head.
Raon extended a Wall of Fire with his Demonic Sword to block the axes and whips that fell like lightning.
However, the demonic energy contained within it was so strong that he couldn't help but be pushed back.
"Here it comes again."
Before he could reposition himself, he felt arrows falling from the right. When he moved his body to the left, the arrows followed him, as if they had eyes, aiming for his back.
"It's better to destroy them."
Raon attacked with a Crimson Slash, combining the blows of the Azure Sky Sword and the Heavenly Thunder Arts to intercept the approaching arrows. Although the arrows were small, the demonic energy they contained was so strong that it seemed as if they were hitting iron.
"Rage..."
Raon took a step back and pulled out the arrow embedded in his shoulder. He used the little Sacred Power he had left, but the bleeding didn't stop. It seemed like the arrow was enchanted with magic to prevent blood clotting.
"You..."
Raon frowned as he crushed the black arrow in his hand.
"You don't have just two hands."
At first, he thought that Sigel was controlling several weapons using a martial art like Sword Control, but that wasn't the case. The Black King Sigel was wielding those weapons with multiple hands.
"You're slow to understand."
As the Black King Sigel nodded, countless arms emerged from his black robe. The hands, covered in muscles and demonic energy, were equipped with longswords, sabers, spears, broadswords, hammers, axes, shields, bows, whips, daggers, and even gauntlets.
"Do you understand now?"
The Black King Sigel tilted his chin arrogantly.
"No human can defeat me."
He raised his weapons with a confident tone, sure of victory. The greatsword moved first. A blade as large as his torso lunged forward, aiming to split Raon's chest. Raon deflected the greatsword's thrust by drawing a semicircle with his Divine Sword.
But there was no time to relax. A spear and a hammer sank in right behind.
Raon used the Steps of Supreme Harmony to escape the reach of the spear and the hammer, but he was met with arrows and whips. He dodged the arrows by turning his shoulder and blocked the whip by raising a Wall of Fire with his Demonic Sword.
'This is dangerous.'
Sigel was wielding all those weapons at a Transcendent level. It was more challenging than facing multiple opponents because a single person was wielding dozens of weapons with perfect coordination.
Longswords and broadswords fell on both his shoulders, while an axe swung from the left and a hammer from the right. A spear lunged from behind, with arrows and whips falling, leaving no room to dodge.
"I can't block them all."
Raon abandoned defense. He raised his Divine Sword and his Demonic Sword symmetrically, creating two streams of waves. The Unification of Flame and Ice, composed of flames and frost, repelled Sigel's attack without interfering with each other by the slightest margin.
As if anticipating that his attacks would be blocked, Sigel pushed a fist with a gauntlet towards the gap when the Unification of Fire and Ice ended. A black, burning fist rushed towards Raon's face.
Raon blocked Sigel's punch with the pommel of his Divine Sword, but the impact was so strong that he felt his bones and flesh reverberate. Even his fists could not be underestimated.
-Why do you only use half your wrath?
Wrath frowned, unable to understand.
-His strength has become overwhelmingly powerful due to demonic energy. You can't face him while holding back!
He tilted his chin, as if telling Raon not to spare any strength.
'I need to close the gate.'
Raon exhaled briefly and looked towards the Devildom Pathway. His goal wasn't Sigel, but to close that gate. He couldn't use all the wrath he possessed, without knowing how much power it would consume.
"Do you understand now? Humans cannot defeat me."
Sigel extended his weapons relentlessly. Having gained confidence after the recent confrontation, his already complex attack pattern became even more chaotic. Raon spat out the blood that had accumulated in his mouth and deflected Sigel's weapons that fell fiercely.
«This is harder than I thought.»
It felt like he was fighting dozens of Transcendants at the same time. The weapons in Sigel's hands moved independently, as if they were wielded by different people, making it difficult to counter them.
"And that black robe is also a problem."
The black robe Sigel wore possessed a special power that went beyond his weapons. To break it, Raon needed to strike its core with a single blow.
"Die already."
Sigel, seemingly reluctant to lose momentum, brandished dozens of weapons simultaneously, eliminating any space to escape. The power of the weapons imbued with demonic energy was so strong that it was difficult to block them, and even when they did, the impact accumulated in Raon's body. The wounds on his shoulders, waist, and thighs increased.
"..."
Raon looked up with difficulty as he simultaneously blocked the greatsword, hammer, axe, and spear.
"It's like an ant colony."
Even at that moment, demonic beasts were pouring out of the Devildom Pathway. With powerful demons mixed in, he couldn't afford to waste any more time.
"I need to finish this quickly."
Raon decided to defeat the Black King Sigel as quickly as possible, even if it meant consuming more wrath.
"Finish soon? Very well. I will grant your wish!"
The Black King Sigel twisted his lips into a smile and raised all his weapons above his head. Black drops began to fall on all his weapons: longswords, sabers, spears, broadswords, hammers, axes, shields, bows, whips, daggers, and gauntlets.
"Demonic Heavenly Water."
The Black King Sigel's ultimate technique, which had killed Owen's Transcendent in one blow, was unleashed. The individual grains of his weapons merged into a single line, forming a massive wave like the sea. A tidal wave of demonic energy tinged with black fell towards Raon's head.
Raon advanced towards Sigel, brandishing the Divine Sword and the Demonic Sword he had tilted behind both shoulders.
Raon Zieghart style swordsmanship.
Sixth form divine-demonic harmony linked technique: Invincible Blue-Red Sword.
The Invincible Azure-Red Sword, true to its name of invincibility, collided with the Black King Sigel's Demonic Heavenly Water, raising a powerful aura. The Demonic Heavenly Water contained tremendous demonic energy, as if dozens of Transcendants had simultaneously unleashed their ultimate techniques. Even the aura of the Invincible Azure-Red Sword could barely push it back, making Raon feel as if his entire body was being crushed.
"I will end this as you wished."
Sigel scoffed, as if this was the end, and added more power to the Demonic Heavenly Water with stronger demonic energy.
"...Then you should be the one to die."
Raon looked up, his eyes trembling. Following his gaze, the wooden ring tied to his waist rose into the air.
"Sword Control? What a ridiculous thing! It's just another sword!"
The Black King Sigel laughed mockingly, as if it meant nothing, and raised his shield, axe, and hammer to prepare his defense.
"Sometimes..."
Raon pursed his lips and shook his head.
"One hand can defeat dozens of hands."
Reciting words full of conviction, he launched the Wooden Ring.
"Nonsense!"
The Black King Sigel, seemingly cautious to the end, raised his shield and prepared to deflect the Wooden Ring with his hammer and axe. The moment he brandished the hammer and axe to defend himself, the Wooden Ring burst into red flames and emerged from inside the shield, right in front of the Black King Sigel's chest.
"What is this!"
Sigel, as befits his role as Vice Master of the Black Tower, reacted in that brief moment, raising his hand wearing the gauntlet to block the Wooden Ring that was aiming for his chest. But his martial arts could not stop this technique.
Raon Zieghart style swordsmanship. Eighth form: Gentle Breeze.
The sword that transcended space pierced even the thick shield of demonic energy that Sigel had wrapped around him, bursting his heart.
"Stay by my side..."
Sigel fell backwards, his eyes wide with surprise, as if he had been sure of victory to the end.
"H-How did you pierce the robe…?"
He raised his trembling gaze, seemingly unable to believe that the robe's defense had been violated.
"I crossed space twice."
Originally, Gentle Breeze crossed space once before hitting the enemy, but this time, Raon crossed space twice to penetrate Sigel's robe. Although his upper dantian felt as if it were going to burst from the tension, it allowed him to ignore the robe and destroy Sigel's heart.
"What a pity..."
Sigel clutched his chest and let out a loud groan.
"We will meet again."
He said that he would revive with the power of the Black Tower Master and then lowered his head.
As if fulfilling that promise, Sigel began to return from death less than 30 seconds after his last breath. His shattered heart was repaired and the spilled blood was replenished.
"Then..."
Raon bit his lip and took a step forward. He used the Thirty-Six Techniques of the Crimson Flash with the Heavenly Drive, shattering Sigel's regenerating body again. However, even though Sigel's body was cut into dozens of pieces, new blood and flesh gathered to regenerate his body.
«Regeneration is faster than I thought.»
Raon was confident that he could defeat Sigel again, but the problem was the time and energy it would consume.
'What do I have to do?'
If he ignored Sigel and moved on, not only would he be in danger, but so would the people left behind. It was an incredibly difficult choice.
"I have no choice."
Raon bit his lip and passed Sigel. As he was about to jump towards the Devildom Pathway, Sigel, who had revived, fired an arrow. Raon stopped his jump to defend himself, but before the black arrow could reach him, it crashed against a silver blade.
"Go."
It was Karoon. He nodded and cut off the arm of the regenerated Sigel.
"But..."
Raon turned his gaze to where Karoon had been. It seemed that he had destroyed all the demons who were aiming for the Light Wind Palace and then had come here to block Sigel's arrow.
"This magic is not perfect. His strength is halved the moment he revives. I can somehow contain him. The problem is..."
Karoon watched the growing Devildom Pathway.
"That gate. The power of the demonized humans and demonic beasts coming from the Devildom is getting stronger. If we don't close it quickly, something will come out that neither you nor I can control."
He narrowed his eyes, indicating what should be prioritized.
—Raon, do not fear sacrifice.
Karoon endured the attack of the demonic beasts with his body while killing Sigel and the demons again.
"Go."
He nodded to Raon with the warmest look he had ever shown. Raon gritted his teeth and turned around. He jumped towards the Devildom Pathway, kicking the ground stained black.
'Damn it!'
He could feel the life force of the people below diminishing, but no screams were heard. That meant they were all holding on, receiving demonic energy with their bodies for the sake of their comrades.
"¡Aaaaargh!"
Raon resonated his three energy centers. He circulated his aura throughout his mana circuit, ending the demonic beasts and demonized humans descending from the Devildom Pathway as he ascended.
He continued to climb, stepping on falling corpses, but demonic beasts and demons came out of the gate endlessly, making his advance terribly slow. His wounds increased and his breathing became ragged gasps.
But he couldn't stop. Even if his life ended here, he had to close that gate. Raon finally reached the front of the Devildom Pathway, enduring the seemingly fatal pain. If he exploded the wrath he had kept here, he should be able to close that gate.
As he was about to take the final step towards the gate, a black-handed demon appeared before his eyes.
They say that demons always block the way at the most crucial moment. The black-handed demon who had disappeared at the middle level appeared before him at the most critical moment.
'This one is dangerous.'
This demon was strong enough for Wrath to recognize it. Facing him would inevitably consume time and energy.
"I can't afford to waste time..."
He looked down. Because of the endless resurrection of monsters and demons, the allied forces were fighting a fierce battle, surrounded by a giant black circle. The wounded inside were so pale, as if they were on the verge of death from having lost too much blood.
"Get out of the way."
Raon launched himself downwards, combining the sword blows of the Azure Sky Sword and the Heavenly Thunder Arts against the demon. The red lightning struck repeatedly, but the black demon easily blocked the blow of his sword by simply raising a wall of demonic energy.
'Do I have to use wrath after all?'
It seemed that he couldn't quickly finish off this demon without using the wrath he had saved to close that gate.
I'll think about the consequences later...
As Raon was about to advance and unleash his wrath, the black demon fell from the Devildom Pathway. But it wasn't to clear the way. The Devildom Pathway twisted and the largest demonic beast to date emerged.
It was a grotesque creature with a dragon's body and eagle's wings, and between its wings rose demons with strong demonic energy.
"Jaja..."
Raon exhaled heavily as he looked at the demonic beast too large to see at a glance and the demons mixed in between.
'Do we finish off that demonic beast and those demons, and also that black-handed demon?'
He could probably do it, but the time it would take would be too great. During that time, everyone below would die. The demons laughed shrilly as if they were celebrating victory, and the demonic beasts roared with malicious glee in response to that laughter.
—Okay. I'll kill them all without thinking about the consequences.
Raon's eyes turned white. Just as he was about to end all the demons before him without considering the consequences, a clear sound of a trumpet was heard, different from the screams of the demonic beasts.
After the sound of the trumpet, a majestic hymn was heard, as if it were sung by hundreds of people. A song of praise to the divine descended upon the land stained with darkness.
"Ah..."
When Raon turned his gaze towards the source of the sound of the trumpet, he saw priests in white robes and golden crowns entering the land of darkness, pushing back the gloom. The demonic beasts, unable to resist the sacred light emanating from the priests, could only retreat.
"You humans!"
As a high-ranking demonized human tried to launch a demonic energy sword towards the priests using spatial movement, a flashing white fist fell on his head. A young woman with violet hair wearing a nun's habit landed on the collapsed demonized human, defeated by the punch infused with sacred power.
"Are we a little late?"
Saint Olga of the Holy Kingdom of Suphren threw her purple hair back with a smile.
"Very late, indeed."
A young holy knight approaching Olga shook his head. It was Hoppen, who had just ascended to the throne of Suphren.
"The Holy Kingdom of Suphren has come to this land by order of the Master of the Light Wind Palace."
Hoppen paid his respects to Raon.
"Advance for our benefactor."
As he unsheathed the Holy King's sword, a bright light rose to envelop the Holy Knights and priests.
"For our benefactor!"
The Holy Knights raised their swords, remembering not the king's order, but the grace they had received from Raon.
"Better late than never, as long as we do our job well."
Saint Olga clasped her hands in prayer and a golden light fell on the heads of the allied forces. It was a wall of sacred power that prevented the demonic beasts from approaching. The Holy Knights, enveloped in sacred power and singing hymns of praise, swept away the demonic beasts before them with the strength of a hundred men.
Shhek-
The demonic beasts and demons killed by their swords, imbued with true sacred power, did not revive immediately, but screamed in agony, fearing regeneration. The pure white paint that had fallen on the black canvas slowly expanded its territory.
The sacred light created by the Holy Kingdom of Suphren pushed back the darkness and generated new hope in the land where hell had taken root.
